I recently saw a video of Tracey Emin, posted on Instagram by White Cube, which had a real affect on me. She was talking about her old work, and she said
“You’ve got to stand by your work, and you’ve got to understand that it’s part of you. It’s like a limb, in a way. My relationship with my art is getting better and better and better, because I love it more and more and more as time goes by. I don’t love it because I think it’s good, I love it because it’s truly part of me”
I’ve been baking for over half of my life, and next year Violet will turn 20 - of course there are things I’ve done in that time that I wouldn’t do now - but that doesn’t mean I shouldn’t stand by those things.
